Kyushu's competitive business costs.In 1999, industrial land (cleared sites, inland) prices in Kyushu were 250 US dollars per square meter, compared to 1,214 US dollars in Tokyo. Average rent for office space is 28 US dollars per square meter, about one sixth of Tokyo's and almost the same as Beijing's and Hanoi's. The combination of low basic business costs and Kyushu's excellent work force pool, are two of Kyushu's most significant advantages for foreign based companies.
