Academic Curriculum

After studies in Human Medicine and Physics at the University of Göttingen, he received his diploma degree in Physics at the ETH Zürich. Postgraduate studies in mathematics and research stays at various mathematical institutes followed. He received this PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Bielefeld. Since then he was a Post-Doc fellow and finally the head of the theory-oriented research group “Artificial Biology” at GMD - German National Research Center for Information Technology. In 2001 he spends his time as a guest researcher at various institutions including the CPT – Centre la Physique Theorique, CNRS, Marseille, and the ZIF – Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Bielefeld.
