Outline Located in the north exit zone of Kokura Station, called International Convention Zone, adjacent to West Japan General Exhibition Hall (exhibition area; 6,930 sq.m). Equipped with an international conference hall, a multipurpose hall, etc. Opened in October 1990.

Asia-Pacific Import Mart (AIM)

Location Kitakyushu City
Capacity Exhibition area; 8,000 sq.m (exhibition building)
Project Organization Kitakyushu City and Kitakyushu Import Promotion Center Co., Ltd.
Outline Core facility of FAZ. Its eight storied building has a total floor space of approx 114,600 sq.m. A facility to offer various support services as a distribution center of Asia, such as joint imports, provision of trade information and product development. Its tenants include trading companies and antenna shops.

ACROS Fukuoka

Sea Hawk Hotel & Resort

Outline The largest hotel (1,052 guest rooms) in Kyushu, with a large convention hall, constructed as part of the Fukuoka Twin Dome Project, after the sports dome (Fukuoka Dome). Opened in April 1995.

The International Center for the Study of East Asia Development, Kitakyushu (ICSEAD)

Outline A joint research organization of Kitakyushu City and the University of Pennsylvania. Does research on economic and social issues of East Asia. Agreement for establishment made in November 1988, and opened in September 1989. International Center for the Study of East Asian Development became a foundation in January 1990.

Japan International Cooperation Agency Kitakyushu International Centre

Outline Located in Hirano area in Yahatahigashi Ward. Facility to accept industrial trainees from developing countries (KITA in charge of training). Has an area of 1.3 ha., with accomodations for 150 people, meeting rooms, library, personal-computer-equipped rooms, etc. Opened in October 1990.

Kitakyushu International Techno-Cooperative Association (KITA)

Outline An NGO providing developing countries with technological cooperation and training centering on environmental conservation, pollution prevention technology, and plant maintenance. Foundation established in July 1980. The name changed in August 1992. Over 1,000 interns from 70 countries have so far been accepted.

Asian-Pacific Center (APC)
